Twitch have a history of moving the goalposts when it comes to how many emotes streamers can upload. At the moment affiliates have more emote slots than ever before.
The rules and allowances are a little confusing though so let’s try and break it down as quickly and as simple as possible.
Affiliates can have a maximum of 7 emotes. Out of the 7 slots, 3 are automatically granted for affiliate status. An emote for T1 subscribers and a further emote for T2 and T3 subscribers. The other 4 are restricted by your subscriber point count.
What are subscriber points? Well, subscriber points are gained when someone subscribes to your channel.
You earn 1 point when a viewer subscribes with a normal T1 sub.
You earn 2 points when a viewer subscribes with a T2 sub.
You earn 6 points when a viewer subscribes with a T3 sub.
Gifted subs also contribute to your total!
Prime subs count as if they were a T1 sub.
Here is a table showing how many points you will need to unlock your next T1 emote slot.
1 emote slot – automatically granted for affiliates
2 emote slots – 15 subscriber points required
3 emote slots – 25 subscriber points required
4 emote slots – 35 subscriber points required
5 emote slots – 50+ subscriber points required
Don’t worry about hitting your points target but then dropping below it the following month if people do not re-subscribe. Twitch will remember your highest subscriber point count and always grant you the according amount of emote slots.
